A Haunting Monument

Dublin 3This Famine Memorial of life-size bronze sculptures can be found on the quayside by the Dublin Custom House.  The figures are depicted in this setting as they would have appeared walking toward a ship such as the Perseverance which left here on St. Patrick’s Day bound for New York.  That ship’s 74 year-old captain, William Scott, is noteworthy for brining ALL crew and passengers safely to America.
